How to Prevent Harassment and Discrimination: Los Angeles County's Policy of Equity Program
In response to Bouman v. Baca matter, a vast harassment and discrimination case that arose out of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the County of Los Angeles, an entity with over 100,000 employees, developed a unique and groundbreaking process for managing equity complaints for the entire County workforce. This presentation will address the implications of the Bouman v. Baca matter, its impact on the County workforce, and the program developed to address and prevent workplace harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and inappropriate conduct toward others, with the idea that inappropriate workplace behaviors can be prevented or stopped at the soonest possible time – and litigation costs significantly reduced.
